You're looking for Bitcoin clothing, and probably not for the first time. Maybe you've already bought one of those printed shirts with a huge logo that looked like an old tattoo after a few washes. Or you ordered from a print-on-demand shop in the US, waited for weeks and got a thin shirt that shrank the first time you washed it.

We know the feeling. We're Tobi and Henry, two Bitcoiners, and we started Bitcoin21 because we couldn't find Bitcoin clothing we actually wanted to wear every day. In this guide we write down what we pay attention to ourselves: how to spot good Bitcoin clothing, what makes our pieces what they are, and which one might suit you.

Why clothing fits the Bitcoin mindset

Once you understand Bitcoin, you start thinking in years and decades. Fast fashion works the other way round. A shirt is meant to last one season, then the next one comes along. Stacking sats while buying throwaway fashion doesn't really add up.

We want our pieces to be made so you wear them for years: heavy fabrics, clean workmanship and a logo that lasts. We call it low time preference in your wardrobe. There's more on that in our article Low Time Preference: What Bitcoin Teaches About Patience.

How to spot good Bitcoin clothing

Before we get to individual pieces: these are the things we look at in everything we make, and you can check them at any shop.

  • Fabric weight: A heavy T-shirt is 250 gsm or more, a hoodie 300 or more. Thin promo shirts are often well below that. For our shirts, polos, hoodies, sweatshirts and jackets, you'll find the weight on the product page.
  • Logo: Embroidery lasts longer than a cheap print and doesn't peel off. We embroider wherever we can. Where embroidery doesn't work on a fabric, we print, and the product page says so.
  • Seams: Side seams help keep a shirt from twisting so easily in the wash.
  • First wash: Cotton always moves a little. Shirts, polos, hoodies and sweatshirts are best washed once before you wear them for the first time. After that the measurements stay stable. The pieces we sell pre-washed are the ones with a washed look, so the Worker Jacket and the Washed Caps.
  • Raw materials: We work with carefully selected textile producers with controlled quality and a clean supply chain. Design, embroidery, printing and finishing happen in Hamburg.

The key pieces at a glance

Hoodies, sweatshirts and jackets

If you want to start with one piece, make it a good hoodie. Our Bitcoin Hoodie Oversized is 330 gsm, has a loose cut and the logo embroidered on the chest. If you prefer something more classic, go for the Bitcoin Sweatshirt, 350 gsm in a regular fit.

For cold days there are two jackets: the Bitcoin Worker Jacket in 340 gsm twill with an embroidered logo, and the Bitcoin Sherpa Jacket in 480 gsm sherpa fleece. On the Sherpa Jacket the logo is printed, because sherpa won't take clean embroidery. You'll find all of them together in our hoodies, sweaters and jackets.

T-shirts

A T-shirt looks simple, and that's exactly why poor quality shows here first. Our Basic T-Shirt is 250 gsm, the Oversized T-Shirt 300 gsm. Neither is see-through, and both keep their shape as long as you keep them out of the dryer. Both have the logo embroidered on the chest. The Basic comes in Black, Grey, Navy and White, the Oversized in Navy, Black and Off-White. You'll find every variant in our Bitcoin T-shirts.

If you like it more low-key, both are also available tone on tone: the logo is then the same colour as the fabric and only stands out up close. More on that in Bitcoin and Privacy.

Polo shirts

For anyone who wants to wear Bitcoin to a meeting without being “the guy in the crypto shirt”. We explain why we keep the two so strictly apart in Bitcoin Is Not Crypto. A polo sits somewhere between a T-shirt and a dress shirt.

With polos, it's all about the piqué. Knitted too loosely, it looks cheap. Too tight, and it looks stiff. Our Bitcoin Polo Shirt is made of 220 gsm organic cotton piqué, with a clean button placket and the embroidered logo on the chest. You'll find all colours and the tone-on-tone versions in our polo shirts.

Sport and running

Sport has its own rules. The fabric has to breathe, wick sweat away and keep its shape after washing. Polyester isn't a sign of poor quality here. Technically it's often the better choice over cotton.

In our Bitcoin sportswear you'll find light performance shirts, for example the “Running Bitcoin” running shirt at 135 gsm with UV protection 40+, or the “Proof of Work” sports shirt. The story behind the name is in Proof of Work: A Principle for Life. Logo and lettering are printed on these. The print lies flat on the thin material and doesn't add bulk.

Caps, socks and swim trunks

Small pieces you wear almost every day. That's exactly where an embroidered logo pays off.

The Bitcoin Cap is a Flexfit cap made of organic cotton, and the Washed Bitcoin Cap is adjustable. Then there are the Bitcoin Socks and the Bitcoin Swim Trunks, both with an embroidered logo. You'll find caps and more in our accessories.

Tone on tone: the Privacy pieces

We're Bitcoiners — we live and love Bitcoin and stand fully behind it. The only question is how visibly you wear it. On our Privacy pieces, the Bitcoin21 logo is the same colour as the fabric. From a distance you barely notice it. Up close, those who know will recognise it. The prices are the same as for the version with the orange logo.

Why wearing it discreetly is part of it for us is in Bitcoin and Privacy: Why Privacy Is Not Hiding.

What happens in Hamburg

We're based in Hamburg. This is where the designs are created and where the logo goes onto the piece, embroidered or printed, together with a local production partner. Before a piece is shipped, it gets checked in Hamburg.

The textiles aren't sewn in Germany, and we don't claim they are. The raw materials come from textile producers we've chosen carefully. Everything after that, we do here. The whole story is in Designed in Hamburg: How Our Bitcoin Pieces Are Made.

How we differ from print-on-demand

Lots of Bitcoin shops online use print-on-demand, often from the US. You order, a standard shirt gets printed somewhere and then shipped halfway around the world. That usually means long delivery times, high shipping costs and thin shirts with a print that fades after a few washes.

We do it differently:

  • Shipped from Hamburg: usually 1–3 business days within Germany, 3–6 to the other EU countries we ship to, and 5–10 business days to Switzerland.
  • Embroidery wherever we can: on most pieces the logo is embroidered.
  • Heavy fabrics: 250 to 350 gsm for shirts, hoodie and sweatshirt, 220 gsm piqué for the polo, performance fabrics for sport.
  • Pay with Bitcoin: on-chain and via Lightning. For a Bitcoin shop, we think that simply belongs.

Size, fit and care

Which size? On the product page you'll find the size chart with measurements in centimetres. The hoodie has an oversized cut, the sweatshirt a regular fit. If you're not sure, send us a quick message before you order and we'll help you pick a size.

How do I look after the pieces? Wash new pieces once before you wear them for the first time. After that: temperature as on the label, wash inside out, no tumble dryer. Heavy cotton in particular shrinks in the dryer. A heavy hoodie is best dried lying flat after washing, so the weight of the water doesn't stretch it.

And if it doesn't fit? You have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the day you receive your order. Trying things on like you would in a shop is fine. If something doesn't fit, send it back and order the right size again. You pay for the return shipping, but we're happy to help you with sending it back.

Shipping and payment

We ship from Hamburg to Germany, Switzerland and 17 other EU countries, usually on the next business day. Shipping costs €4.99 and is free from €75. You'll find the list of countries in our shipping policy.

You can pay by credit and debit card, Klarna, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay. And of course with Bitcoin, on-chain and via Lightning, right in the checkout. Whether you pay with Bitcoin or would rather keep your sats is up to you. What matters to us is that you can.

Frequently asked questions about Bitcoin clothing

What makes Bitcoin clothing different from ordinary crypto merch?

Crypto merch is often the free printed shirt from the last conference. Good Bitcoin clothing is something you wear for years, because the fabric, seams and logo are made for it. And it's Bitcoin-only, with no altcoin motifs.

Which size should I order from Bitcoin21?

Check the size chart on the product page, where you'll find the measurements in centimetres. The hoodie has an oversized cut, the sweatshirt a regular fit. If you're not sure, message us before you order and we'll help.

How do I care for Bitcoin clothing properly?

Wash new pieces once before you first wear them. After that, wash them inside out at the temperature on the label and keep them out of the dryer, because heavy cotton shrinks in there. Heavy hoodies are best dried lying flat.

How fast is shipping from Hamburg?

Usually 1 to 3 business days within Germany, 3 to 6 to the other EU countries we ship to, and 5 to 10 business days to Switzerland. We usually ship on the next business day.

Can I pay with Bitcoin or Lightning?

Yes. In the checkout you choose to pay with Bitcoin and get a QR code for an on-chain payment or a Lightning invoice. It works with all common wallets.

Are your pieces made of organic cotton?

Many are, but not all. The exact material composition is on every product page. The hoodie, for example, is 70% cotton and 30% polyester, and the sports shirts are polyester.

Are the logos printed or embroidered?

Embroidered on most pieces. Printed are the Sherpa Jacket and the sports and running shirts, because embroidery doesn't work well on those fabrics, plus the motif on the back of the WeWill+ shirts. The product page tells you which technique a piece uses.

Do you have Bitcoin clothing for women?

We don't have dedicated women's cuts at the moment. Still, plenty of women wear pieces like the hoodie, the Oversized T-Shirt and the caps. Your best bet is to check the size chart.

How long do your pieces last?

That depends on the piece, how you care for it and how often you wear it. We don't promise a fixed number of years. Our aim is that you wear them much longer than fast fashion.

Can I return items?

Yes. You have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the day you receive your order, and trying things on like you would in a shop is fine. You pay for the return shipping. Write to us at info@bitcoin21.shop and we'll help you.

Final thoughts

For us, Bitcoin clothing isn't a fashion question. We want to make pieces we like wearing ourselves and that still look good years from now. Made for everyday life, for people who live and love Bitcoin.
